Laser Skin Rejuvenation Q&A

What is laser skin rejuvenation?

Laser skin rejuvenation is a method of skin resurfacing that improves the appearance of your skin and treats minor facial flaws by removing a thin layer of skin and stimulates the production of collagen.

Laser resurfacing can be done with an ablative laser, which removes the thin top layer of skin, or with a nonablative laser, which leaves the top layer of skin intact and tightens underlying skin by promoting collagen production. While nonablative laser resurfacing is less invasive and requires less recovery time, it is also less effective than ablative laser treatment.
What does laser skin rejuvenation address?
Laser resurfacing, or rejuvenation, is effective in treating facial lines, but it can also treat loss of skin tone, improve your complexion, and remove scars and signs of sun damage.
InVision Eye Care most commonly uses laser skin resurfacing to address:

Wrinkles
Age spots
Uneven skin tone or texture
Sun-damage spots
Scars

Skin resurfacing is not advised for people who have active acne or take prescription acne medication, or for people with an abnormal tendency to form scar tissue.
What is it like to get laser skin rejuvenation treatment?

Before deciding on skin rejuvenation, or resurfacing, treatment, your provider will likely perform a physical exam and review your medical history, while discussing your goals and expectations for the treatment. If you’re having an ablative laser procedure, you may be given an antiviral medication to prevent viral infection prior to your treatment. You may also want to avoid undue sun exposure in the days leading up to your procedure as well.

After the procedure, your skin may be sore or itchy, but you can treat it with medicated ointment or with oral pain medication and ice packs.

If you’re interested in laser skin resurfacing to help you look your best, call InVision Eye Care today or make an appointment online.
