Botox Q&A

What are Botox injections?

before/ after botox

Botox injections can serve a variety of purposes, but they are most known for their ability to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. Botox injections relaxes the muscles and helps reduce wrinkles.

How do I know if Botox is right for me?

Botox injections are most effective when applied to wrinkles that haven’t set yet. Known as dynamic wrinkles, they appear when you’re talking, smiling, frowning, or otherwise moving your face.

If you’re breastfeeding, pregnant, or planning to become pregnant, talk with your doctor about Botox injections first.

What is it like to get Botox injections?

Before your appointment, make sure your doctor knows if you have had any Botox injections before, especially in the past few months. Also be sure to mention any medication you’re taking, including sleep aids, muscle relaxants, allergy medications, or natural supplements.

On the day of your appointment, avoid taking a painkiller like ibuprofen or aspirin, as they can exacerbate bruising at the application site. Your doctor may numb the area of your injections, but many people feel very little discomfort and don’t require any anesthetic at all. InVision Eye Care uses thin needles for the injections.

After the procedure, don’t rub or massage the affected area for at least 24 hours, as this can cause the toxin to spread to other parts of your skin and become less effective. You can resume your daily activities as soon as your appointment is over.

Botox injections typically take effect within one week and will last for months. You may need follow-up injections regularly to maintain the effect.
