How LASIK/PRK Can Make Exercise Easier and More Enjoyable

Laser Vision Correction Help with Exercise

Do you feel as though your workouts are disrupted or limited because of corrective eyewear? Would freedom from visual aids help you run faster, lift heavier and get in the best shape of your life?

If so, you should consider laser eye surgery with Dr. Edward Hedaya of InVision Eye Care. Laser vision correction will give you the clear, crisp vision you want with little to no dependence on visual aids. You can go about your everyday life, including your workouts, more comfortably and with no disruptions.

The Problem with Glasses and Contacts

Glasses can make it very difficult to exercise comfortably. Whether you’re running, cycling or doing body weight exercises like squats or push-ups, glasses can slip off your face due to vigorous movement or sweat. If you’re in the middle of a busy gym, they could easily be stepped on, putting a swift end to your workout.

Even if your glasses stay intact and in place, they can fog up as you work hard, obscuring your view so you have to stop and wipe them off before resuming your activity.

Maybe you prefer to wear contacts instead of glasses when working out, but have discovered that contacts come with their own set of inconveniences.

If you are the type of person that likes to wake up in the morning and immediately head to the gym or out for a run, it may be aggravating to first stop to put in your contact lenses. The lenses can shift around in your eyes, or even fall out and get lost.

Another problem with contacts is that you cannot swim in them (unless you invest in swim goggles). The FDA warns against exposing contacts to any water, including pools, lakes and oceans, as organisms found in the water could attach to the contacts and lead to an eye infection or other problems.

After laser vision correction with LASIK/PRK, the likelihood of needing glasses or contacts when exercising is very slim. Your vision should be clearer and sharper than ever before!

Clear, Crisp Vision Is Better for Your Game

If you are a recreational athlete that enjoys getting your exercise by playing soccer, basketball or other team sports, LASIK/PRK can help you perform at your highest level. It is much easier to see the ball and play longer and harder with high-definition vision!

The first step toward clearer vision is to meet with our laser eye surgeon and discuss your candidacy for LASIK/PRK. To book an appointment with Dr. Hedaya of InVision Eye Care, please contact our New Jersey office today.
