Did You Know?

Stroke is the 3rd leading cause of death in the USA affecting 800,000 people annually. Intracranial carotid disease accounts for 75% of all strokes. This is typically not evaluated in the standard carotid artery neck ultrasound. There are many instances when certain eye conditions may be affected by poor circulation in the brain. A Transcranial Doppler Study specialist looks at the blood vessels in your head and behind your eye. These can not be evaluated on a routine physical or eye examination.

The Trans Cranial Doppler is a painless in office ultrasound test that measures blood flow in our head and behind our eyes. There is no radiation involved and the tests takes minutes to perform by a specialized technician. The test is scheduled on special days and does not require a driver. It is generally covered by insurance. Results are usually in 48-72 hours

The results will be sent to your medical doctor who may elect to proceed with additional tests or therapy as needed.
