Dr. Daniel V. Will
Dr. Will is a recognized leader in ophthalmology and brings the most advanced retina care to InVision EyeCare in New Jersey. Prior to joining the practice, Dr. Will was Guam's first full-time retina surgeon, providing the Guam community with outstanding clinical and surgical expertise to achieve the best possible outcomes for their diabetic and retinal diseases. His efforts were honored by the 2010 Guam Legislature Resolution no. 481-30 (COR) "...extending Un Dǻngkulo Na Si Yu'os Ma'ǻse' to him for providing his medical expertise and services to the people of Guam;..."
At the age of 35, Dr. Will was appointed as Director of Retina Service and Director of Vitreo-retinal Fellowship (Retinal Surgeon Training Program) at The Scheie Eye Institute of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Will has been repeatedly named in America's Top Ophthalmologists, honored with the Penn Healthcare Hero award, and named the winner of The Philadelphia Antique Show, enabling The University of Pennsylvania to construct The Penn Center for Ocular Imaging. He is a graduate of the prestigious American Academy of Ophthalmology's Leadership Development Program.
Dr. Will's particular area of expertise is treating patients with diabetic eye disease. He has done extensive research on the treatment of complications of advanced diabetes including surgical treatment of diabetic retinal detachments, macular holes, and concurrent glaucoma. He has presented his research at the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retinal Specialists, Retina Society, and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meetings, has been a professional speaker at multiple forums such as the American Diabetes Association Philadelphia Diabetes Expo, and has taught courses on diabetic eye disease to patients, medical students, residents, fellows, and colleagues. He was a guest speaker and panelist at the Guam Diabetes Association's 11th Annual Guam Diabetes Conference.
Dr. Will has also helped shape legislation in the United States to ensure the best care for patients. He was Chairman of The Young Physicians Section of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Philadelphia County Medical Society, a Member of the Board of Directors for the Philadelphia County Medical Society and the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology, and represented Pennsylvania to the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Will's ocular imaging research has been published in an ophthalmology text book. He has been an investigator on clinical trials that led to the FDA approval of Lucentis and Macugen, state-of-the-art treatments for age-related macular degeneration and other eye diseases. He recently contributed to the investigation of gene therapy for retinal disease, a revolutionary new treatment.
Dr. Will graduated from Georgetown University and received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency and fellowship in medical and surgical retina at the world famous New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Will has appeared on KYW Philadelphia radio, KYW-3 Philadelphia television, and has been featured in the Pacific Daily News.
