Clear lens surgery is safe and convenient. Prior to surgery, the Dr. Hedaya will closely examine your eyes and your vision in order to prescribe the best premium lifestyle lens implants. A lens implant is a device used to replace the human lens, which is removed during clear lens surgery. The new lens will provide you with an appropriate level of focusing power, thereby improving your postoperative vision and allowing you to see clearly at multiple distances with little or no dependence on glasses.
On the day of surgery, you may be given medication that will help you relax, and Dr. Hedaya will numb your eyes with topical anesthesia. Injections or use of needles are not necessary, and you will remain comfortable and pain-free during surgery. The skin around the eye will be disinfected just minutes prior to the procedure.
During the procedure, our New Jersey eye surgeon, Dr. Hedaya, creates a small, self-sealing incision on the surface of the eye and extracts the eye's clouded lens. Prior to excision, the lens is broken up with an ultrasound energy device, a process known as phacoemulsification. A new lens is then placed in the eye for clear postoperative vision at multiple distances.
