Dr. Alina Balasa
Dr. Alina Balasa has recently joined the InVision team as a residency-trained optometrist. A native of New Jersey, she received her Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. While enrolled, she earned clinical honors from all of her external rotation sites concentrating in primary eye care, ocular disease, pediatrics and low vision. After graduation, Dr. Balasa completed her ocular disease residency at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. Dr. Balasa earned her undergraduate degree at Rutgers University, where she was also a member of the women's tennis team.
As a resident with the Baltimore VA Medical Center, Dr. Balasa performed eye care on veterans with complex eye care needs, which required advanced diagnostic and therapeutic care. In addition to her program at the Veteran's Hospital, Dr. Balasa also worked with faculty from the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins in various subspecialties, including specialty contact lenses, retina, cornea, ocular surface and glaucoma. During her residency, she also gave presentations at various conferences, including the Maryland Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Balasa is excited to return to her home state of New Jersey, where she can begin her professional career among esteemed colleagues. In her free time, Dr. Balasa enjoys playing tennis, hiking and traveling.
