Dr. Edward Hedaya
Dr. Hedaya received his medical degree from New York Medical College in 1981. He completed his residency and fellowship training in ophthalmology at the prestigious New York University Medical Center. He is board certified in ophthalmology and ranks nationally in the top 10 percent. Dr. Hedaya has trained at some of the finest institutions in the country, including Mt. Zion/UCSF, North Shore/Cornell Medical Center and the New York University Medical Center. In addition to the standard residency programs, he has pre- and post- residency fellowship training.
Dr. Hedaya continually attends important seminars and meetings all around the world, including Rome, Vienna, Russia and Germany, to stay abreast all the new advancements in medicine and technology. Dr. Hedaya is certified on many of the top laser systems used in laser vision correction, including Summit Apex, Visx S2 Smooth Scan, the Autonomous LADARVision units and the advanced Allegretto Wave Eye-Q laser.
Dr. Hedaya has a long history of teaching surgery to other ophthalmic surgeons. In the past, he was a Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmic Surgery at the New York University Medical Center. He is a former certified supervisor for the LADARVision laser and currently specializes in PRK with the leading-edge Allegretto Wave Eye-Q laser system. Dr. Hedaya enjoys teaching new surgeons how to perform laser vision correction. He also assists more experienced surgeons in tuning up their techniques.
With more than 10 years' expertise in laser vision correction, Dr. Hedaya's experience in performing thousands of eye surgeries has given him a strong foundation for achieving excellent results. He is among the most experienced laser vision correction specialist in the Jersey Shore area. His LASIK/PRK patients have benefited from this experience, which is supplemented by continual participation in prestigious national and international meetings on laser vision correction, including LASIK and PRK.
In addition, Dr. Hedaya is a recognized expert on all the different lifestyle lens implants for cataract surgery. He has more than 25 years experience in cataract surgery, has taught cataract surgery at NYU Medical Center and has successfully performed over 15,000 surgeries. His expertise has helped doctors and patients alike reach their maximum potential in decreasing dependence on glasses for both far and near vision using lifestyle lenses. For many patients, these lenses can provide the best vision they ever had in their lives, with minimal or no dependence on glasses or contacts. Dr. Hedaya has an interest in more difficult cases, including patients who have had laser vision correction or other eye procedures in the past.
Dr. Hedaya resides in Monmouth County and is happily married with four beautiful children. His hobbies include working out, skiing, bike riding and traveling with his family. He is a huge fan of the ballet and loves Broadway!
